Job Summary:

The Demand Planner is responsible for forecasting demand, planning inventory, managing shipping and port procedures, and ensuring efficient supply planning. The role requires excellent analytical skills, proficiency in Microsoft Excel, and experience with ERP systems like JDE, SAGE, and SAP.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Demand Forecasting:
    • Develop and maintain accurate demand forecasts using historical data, market trends, and statistical models.
    • Collaborate with sales, marketing, and finance teams to incorporate business intelligence into forecasts.
    • Monitor and analyze forecast accuracy and adjust models as necessary.
  2. Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP):
    • Participate in S&OP meetings to align demand forecasts with business objectives.
    • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of demand and supply plans.
    • Assist in the development of the S&OP process to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  3. Inventory Planning:
    • Develop and execute inventory strategies to optimize stock levels and minimize excess inventory.
    • Monitor inventory performance and recommend adjustments to meet service level targets.
    • Coordinate with procurement and warehouse teams to ensure timely replenishment of stock.
  4. Shipping and Port Procedures:
    • Oversee shipping schedules and ensure compliance with port procedures and regulations.
    • Liaise with logistics providers to ensure efficient transportation and delivery of goods.
    • Manage documentation and customs clearance processes for international shipments.
  5. Supply Planning:
    • Create and maintain supply plans to meet forecasted demand and inventory targets.
    • Coordinate with suppliers and production teams to ensure timely availability of materials.
    • Monitor supply chain performance and address any issues that may impact supply continuity.
  6. Microsoft Excel:
    • Utilize advanced Excel skills for data analysis, reporting, and decision support.
    • Develop and maintain Excel-based models for forecasting, inventory planning, and performance tracking.
    • Automate repetitive tasks using Excel macros and VBA.
  7. ERP Systems (JDE, SAGE, SAP):
    • Use JDE, SAGE, and SAP for demand planning, inventory management, and supply chain operations.
    • Extract and analyze data from ERP systems to support decision-making.
    • Ensure data accuracy and integrity within the ERP systems.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in demand forecasting, S&OP processes, inventory planning, shipping and port procedures, and supply planning.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions and macros.
  • Experience with ERP systems such as JDE, SAGE, and SAP.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in Supply Chain Management (e.g., APICS, CPIM).
  • Experience with statistical forecasting software.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
