  • Creating motor control algorithms on Simulink, generate autocode, interface with firmware, deploying it on embedded platforms, verifying the design on Hardware-in-the-loop simulator, dynamometer and the assembled tool.
  • Apply motor controls, as required, including- scalar control, vector (field-oriented) control, direct torque control, six-step or trapezoidal commutation, Clarke/Park transforms, flux-weakening, Maximum-Torque-Per-Amp, Maximum-Torque-Per-Volt, pulse width modulation schemes (sinusoidal, third harmonic injection, space vector, continuous, discontinuous), sensorless position and speed observers or utilizing position/speed sensors
  • Understanding of  classic and modern control theory: stability, controllability, observability, Bode plots, Nyquist diagrams, closed-loop transfer function, feed-forward, Laplace transform, z-transform, linear quadratic regulator, filter design, Kalman filters continuous and discrete time domains, PID regulators, adaptive control.
  • Model motor loads and optimize motor control based on the load dynamics.
  • Working proficiency with embedded microcontrollers or digital signal processors (architecture, peripherals, functioning, performance constraints)
  • Working proficiency with high-quality embedded C/C++ code for embedded microcontrollers and integrating auto generated code with infrastructure code
  • Experience with real-time simulation, model-based design, hardware-in-loop, and code generation using Simulink
  • Experience with speed/positions sensors: Hall, encoders (incremental and absolute), resolvers
  • Familiarity with analog signal conditioning electronics (amplifiers and filters) and current sensors
  • Familiarity with related power electronics (three-phase inverters, MOSFETs, gate drivers) and required protections (Over/under voltage/current etc)
  • Familiarity with induction, brushless DC, and permanent magnet synchronous motors (design topologies, geometry, materials, equivalent schemes, and modeling)
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a solid analytical and practical (hands-on) approach
  • Present in design reviews of internal developments and review third party designs
  • Document firmware designs, specifications, test plans, revisions and produce test reports
  • Prepared to work on several projects at a given time or highly complicated projects that require a creative team work. Work with cross-functional teams during product life-cycle
  • Excellent organization, interpersonal, leadership, analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Using laboratory equipment such as Hardware-in-the-loop simulator, dynamometers, oscilloscopes, power and logic analyzers, power supplies, load boxes, data acquisition systems
  • Work with electrical systems, firmware and mechanical engineers to develop solutions as required for the product.
  • Support functional and qualification testing of the designed boards and sub-assemblies. Support functional testing for motor controllers on Hardware-in-the-loop simulator, dynamometers and on assembled tool.

A bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, electronics engineering or similar discipline and a minimum of two years related experience are required for the position. A master’s degree or PhD in electrical engineering with emphasis on motor control and license/charter as a Professional Engineer are preferred.
