Retail and Financing

Our foundational business unit focuses on providing high-quality solar products, appliances and other life improving products to customers with limited or no access to the electrical grid in Sierra Leone and Liberia. We offer innovative financing options that empower our customers to pay for their solar products in weekly or monthly installments, either through cash or mobile money. To date, we’ve reached over 1,000,000 users through an extensive network of agents and outlets, and are now leveraging our brand and distribution network to provide make financial services and other life improving products available to our customers

Power Solutions

Our second business unit, Power Solutions, was established four years ago to address the energy needs of larger clients in the residential, commercial and industrial sectors. We’ve completed more than 500 kWp of cumulative solar installations and have more than 2MWp of pipeline, powering offices, factories, schools, hospitals, and other key infrastructures. At a time where the cost of fuel and grid electricity is skyrocketing in the region, Easy Solar intends to establish itself as the most reliable and affordable alternative to fossil fuels, powering offices, factories, warehouses, schools, hospitals and other facilities across the region.

About the Role – Job Summary
As Easy Solar continues its rapid growth trajectory, the General Manager of Power Solutions will play a pivotal role in leading and expanding our Power Solutions business unit. This executive will be responsible for steering a multi-disciplinary team of engineers
and sales representatives, with the goal of developing new business lines with commercial and industrial clients, improving operational efficiency to deliver outstanding customer service, and achieving key strategic objectives like the opening of new markets. The role calls for a leader who can innovate, execute, and grow Power Solutions into the leading EPC and O&M company in the sub-region.

General Duties and Responsibilities

Commercial Leadership
●Lead the company’s commercial efforts in the Power Solutions domain to build a robust pipeline of new business opportunities.
●Develop and maintain strong client relations to ensure customer satisfaction and long-term partnerships.
●Oversee participation in tender applications for Solar PV projects, from qualification to proposal submission.

Strategic Development
●Formulate and implement strategies aimed at expanding Power Solutions’ footprint both nationally and internationally, particularly into other West African markets.
●Work closely with the CEO to align the business unit’s goals with Easy Solar’s overarching mission and vision.
●Identify and explore new market opportunities that contribute to business growth and sustainability.

Project Management and Execution:
●Oversee the entire lifecycle of solar PV projects, from initial client interaction to final delivery.
●Ensure the engineering and design of Solar PV Systems meet both client needs and industry benchmarks.
●Manage the end-to-end supply chain, including procurement, shipping, installation, and commissioning of solar systems.

Financial Oversight and Financing
●Collaborate with the Finance department for accurate and timely internal reporting, covering aspects like cash flow, inventory, and revenue.
●Secure funding for Power Solutions activities by working in tandem with the CEO and Corporate Finance team.
●Develop strong partnerships with specialized financing companies to offer flexible lease agreements, thereby broadening the customer base for larger projects.

Required Skills & Qualification
Educational Qualifications: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Engineering, Energy, or a related field
Experience:
● A minimum of 8 years of work experience in the Solar PV Sector, electricity generation, or transmission. Candidates must have a robust understanding of the cost dynamics and economic benefits associated with Solar PV systems of varying sizes.
●Strong commercial acumen with a proven track record in business development and forming partnerships with customers, suppliers, and financial entities.
●Demonstrable experience in producing high-quality reports and other written documents.
●Established experience in building, leading, and managing a diverse team.
●Prior experience in participating in tenders issued by government institutions, NGOs, etc., is considered a plus.

Skills & Competencies:
●Technological Awareness: Remain updated on relevant technology, understand its applicability and limitations, and actively seek to apply technology to improve business outcomes.
●Language Proficiency: Must be proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English.
●Strong communication and organizational skills.
●Software Skills: High proficiency in PVSyst, Helioscope, OpenSolar, and MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
